Roofing and sealing membranes
Woven fabrics and laminates made of glass and polyester are used in bitumen and plastic sealing membranes.
They actively contribute to improving the tensile strength, flexibility, and fire load of roofing and sealing membranes.
Benefits:
- High tear and tensile strength
- Alkaline-resistant
- Excellent flatness, uniform appearance
- Low thickness
- Defined fire load
Roofing and sealing membranes require special properties to provide reliable waterproofing for construction works and roofs. Vitrulan woven fabrics and laminates actively contribute to improving tensile strength, flexibility and fire load. Vitrulan products are used both in the production of bitumen sheeting and plastic sealing membranes.
Practical benefits:
High tear and tensile strength
- High tear strength with minimal stretching thanks to dimensionally stable glass fabric (bitumen sheeting)
- High tear strength and stretching thanks to flexible polyester fabric (plastic sheets)
- Increased tear initiation and propagation strength
- Improved cold bending behavior (resistance to bending and breaking)
- Dimensional stability with temperature fluctuations
Excellent flatness
- Enables easy and efficient installation on large surfaces
- Facilitate process capability and process reliability
Uniform appearance and low thickness
- Layer thickness indicator – controlled material usage
- Promotes a homogeneous surface structure
Defined fire load
- Improved fire protection

Marble and natural stone slabs
Vitrulan fabrics are ideal for use as a reinforcement backing on stone slabs such as marble, granite or limestone. When correctly applied, our glass mesh fabrics protect the stone from damage, while guaranteeing even and controllable resin impregnation.
Benefits:
- High tear and tensile strength
- Excellent flatness
- Uniform appearance
- Low thickness
- Low weight
Natural stone is particularly prone to breakage. It is subject to extreme stresses as a result of mechanical actions during processing and transportation. Vitrulan fabrics are ideal for use as a reinforcement backing on stone slabs such as marble, granite or limestone. Use of these backing materials can reduce material loss when blocks of high quality stone such as marble are cut into thin slabs. When correctly applied, our glass mesh fabrics protect the stone from damage, whilst at the same time guaranteeing even and controllable resin impregnation.
Practical benefits:
High tear strength
- High force absorption and minimal elongation
- Increased resistance to bending and breaking
- Stable even when temperatures and humidity levels fluctuate
Excellent flatness
- Enables easy and efficient installation on large surfaces
Uniform appearance and low thickness
- Layer thickness indicator – controlled material usage
- Enables homogeneous and efficient resin application
Low weight
- Guaranteed efficient installation
- Flexible to handle yet dimensionally stable
- No unnecessary weighting

Plaster/render reinforcement
Our mesh fabrics provide reliable and permanent reinforcement for thin, medium, and thick plaster/render systems, while effectively preventing crazing as well as the formation of undesired hairline, shrinkage, alligator or joint cracks.
Our glass mesh fabrics are mainly used in exterior insulation and finish systems as well as with interior paint and plaster systems.
Special designs: Preformed reinforced or flexible corner beads with predefined mesh angle, shielding fabric
Benefits:
- High tear and tensile strength
- Alkaline-resistant
- Excellent flatness
- Uniform appearance
- Low thickness
- Defined fire load
Exterior renders are exposed to extreme fluctuations in climatic conditions. Our extremely durable mesh fabrics provide reliable and permanent reinforcement for thin, medium and thick render systems. The mesh fabric expands only minimally even when exposed to extreme temperature variations, and prevents crazing as well as the formation of undesirable hairline, shrinkage, alligator or joint cracks. Special solid fabrics provide additional protection from mechanical damage, for example at the base of buildings.
The main area of application for our glass mesh fabrics are exterior insulation finishing systems (EIFSs). In this field, our products exceed the requirements of ETAG 004 and the German Institute for Building Technology (DIBT).
For indoor use, robust Vitrulan reinforcement fabrics reliably protect new walls from hairline cracks, shrinkage, alligator or joint cracks and so help reduce the need for frequent redecorating. Our hard-wearing fabrics can be used to permanently bridge and conceal existing damage in old buildings or buildings in need of refurbishment. The relatively fine-mesh and thin structure allows the fabric to be invisibly embedded into the top coat that needs reinforcing.
Practical benefits:
High tear and tensile strength
- High force absorption and minimal elongation
- Protection against crack formation and transfer to visible surfaces
- Stable even when temperatures and humidity levels fluctuate
Alkaline-resistant
- Protects fabric from aging and loss of functionality, reduces the need for frequent redecorating
- Optimum compatibility – with mineral and dispersion-based materials
Excellent flatness
- Enables easy and efficient installation on large surfaces
- Adapts to substrate
Uniform appearance and low thickness
- Can be used with any plaster system
- Layer thickness indicator – controlled material usage
- Enables a homogeneous surface structure
Low weight
- Guaranteed efficient installation
- Flexible to handle yet dimensionally stable
- Supports lightweight construction

Dry wall and acoustic panels
Special glass mesh fabrics and mesh non-woven laminates particularly enhance the tensile and flexural strength of panels made from different materials (e.g. concrete, gypsum, lightweight mortar, clay, wood or XPS, EPS etc.)
Optimized surface properties facilitate process capability and process reliability.
Benefits:
- High tear and tensile strength
- Alkaline-resistant
- Excellent flatness
- Uniform appearance
- Low thickness and weight
We have developed special glass mesh reinforcement fabrics and laminates made from non-wovens and mesh designed to optimize the properties of panel materials. Vitrulan products significantly improve the tensile and flexural strength of panels made from different materials (e.g. concrete, gypsum, lightweight mortar, clay, wood or XPS, EPS etc.) and also optimize their surface characteristics.
