Hybrid non-crimp fabrics

Hybrid non-crimp fabrics, also known as hybrid NCFs, are a combination of different types of rovings. By uniting the individual roving properties, new product solutions can be created perfectly tailored to the intended application. Hybrid NCFs can be engineered from special hybrid fibers or by combining aramid, (E-)glass, carbon or polyester fibers.

Fiber types and properties

Aramid fibers

  • Stiffness and strength
  • Impact resistance / good shock absorption
  • High energy absorption capacity and wear resistance
  • Temperature resistance
  • Inert to most chemicals

Carbon fibers

  • High level of stiffness and compressive strength
  • Excellent fatigue strength at dynamic load exposure
  • Low thermal expansion (negative expansion coefficient)

(E-)glass fibers

  • Excellent mechanical, thermal and dielectric (non-conductive) properties
  • Non-combustible and temperature resistant
  • Inert to most chemicals
  • Resistant to weathering
  • Resistant to weathering

Polyester (PES) fibers

  • Excellent tear strength and scrub resistance
  • High dimensional stability
  • Resistant to organic and mineral acids as well as weathering
