SYSTEXX glass fleece wall covering with enhanced functionality

There’s room for creativity in every room. Thanks to modern digital printing techniques, wall paper is becoming an increasingly important element of interior design, alongside the color scheme and choice of furniture. Digitally printed glass fleece wallcoverings with a pre-pasted, water-activated backing are robust, expressive and easy to apply: they are currently being used to create a unique sense of well-being in the wellness center at the Bayerischen Hof Hotel in Bayreuth, Bavaria.

Initial situation: Refurbishment of the wellness center

The wellness center at the Bayerischer Hof Hotel in Bayreuth has recently been refurbished to create a relaxing and visually appealing ambience for guests. The walls were to play a leading role in the new design. It soon became clear that digitally printed wall paper was the way forward, but from which supplier? Ultimately the new wall covering had to be robust and durable, but above all quick to apply so that the refurbishments could be completed in as short a time as possible.

Solution: Digitally printed wall paper

The glass fiber wall covering with an eggshell finish is the perfect substrate for printing with latex inks. In addition, the fabric, like many of Vitrulan's wall coverings, features Aqua technology for ease of application. The back of the fabric is prepasted with exactly the right amount of adhesive which is simply activated with water immediately before use. Easy to trim, it also has a special coating to ensure optimum image quality and durability.

The result: Wall coverings with that special feel-good factor

At the Bayerischer Hof Hotel in Bayreuth all these product benefits were put to good use when the wellness center was refurbished. The walls are decorated with a woodland theme that radiates peace and tranquility. Combined with pillars and tables made from genuine tree trunks, this has created a harmonious and beautifully coordinated interior that invites users to linger and relax. A total wall area of 60 m² was papered. Easy to cut, glass fabric wall coverings can be perfectly aligned using the double-cut method. Once in position, the neat, even seams are difficult, if not impossible to see. This was certainly the case at the Bayerischen Hof. It was particularly important that the double-cut joints followed the pattern of the printed image rather than running in a straight line. Cuts made in this way are virtually invisible. And because glass fabric wall coverings won’t stretch or shrink, positioning them on the wall is child's play. The water-activated adhesive proved to be an additional benefit. The process was simple and mess-free, with no adhesive oozing out at the seams. Only a few weeks after completion of the wellness center, the hotel's management had already received very positive feedback from guests, who are delighted with the unique atmosphere.
