Visitors to the Radisson SAS hotel in Frankfurt am Main do not need a sat nav to find it. Simply knowing that the hotel looks like a gigantic CD will be enough. The iconic design idea has also been carried through into the interior furnishings.

Initial situation: Interior design concept calls for absolutely smooth walls, with coverings that are fire-resistant, hard-wearing and pose no health risks.

Architect and designer Matteo Thun placed a particular focus on the color scheme of the internal walls. Each floor has its own color scheme, so the designer wanted the underlying walls to be as smooth as possible – easily achievable with the completely smooth SYSTEXX Comfort Glassfleece V22 (now named SYSTEXX Pure Fleece V22) glass fleece.

One of the main requirements for wall coverings in the hotel industry is obviously for them to be hard-wearing. They must also comply with all the fire safety regulations. In addition, water vapor permeability is important for a healthy atmosphere, and the wall coverings should not pose any health risks.

The solution: SYSTEXX Comfort Glassfleece V22 (now named SYSTEXX Pure Fleece V22)

The glass fleece copes excellently with day-to-day wear and tear in high-traffic areas. The glass fleece system has even been used in the pool and sauna area, with a high-performance coating that means the walls can be washed and disinfected. Thanks to its crack-bridging properties, the wall fabric can even be used to cover and prevent hairline cracks.

The result: Attractive, functional walls that fit the design concept

The design concept called for rooms with a wide range of different color schemes. Completely smooth glass fleece provides the ideal “canvas” and blends in unobtrusively with the overall design – while complying with all the necessary technical specifications.
