SYSTEXX Active M22 creates magnetically active walls in engineering studio Emch & Berger, Nuremberg, Germany

Emch & Berger, an engineering firm in Nuremberg, plans and implements projects ranging from highway modernization to bridges and large weir and sluice systems. Large-scale construction projects mean large-scale plans – in the literal sense of the word.

Initial situation: A need to fix extremely large, heavy plans to the wall using magnets so that they stay up even when the windows are open.

This was the requirement when the firm relocated to new premises. Looking for a large-scale, magnetic or magnetically active wall, the client approached its local paint wholesaler, Busch & Co in Nuremberg.

Magnetic paint was immediately ruled out because its magnetic properties are not powerful enough. The idea of fixing big metal plates to the walls and papering over them was also discarded because of the huge amount of work involved. So Busch & Co suggested using a glass fabric with a magnetically active backing that can be hung like normal wallpaper.

The solution: SYSTEXX Active Magnetic M22

Less than 24 hours after making the inquiry, Emch & Berger received a sample of SYSTEXX Active Magnetic M22. The decision was quickly taken: over 450 square meters of wall surface were to be hung with M22.

Nuremberg-based painting and decorating expert Thomas Zellner was contracted to hang the wall covering. A SYSTEXX technician was also on hand while the first pieces were being hung. But after just one hour of instruction, the decorators were able to hang even 6.5 m lengths themselves without any trouble: applying dispersion adhesive to the wall and smoothing on a length of glass fabric ensuring there are no bubbles. The next lengths were hung using the double-cut method to create a completely uniform surface without any visible joins.

The result: Smooth, spacious walls with invisible magnetically active properties

The completely smooth glass fabric blends in invisibly. Thanks to super-strong magnets, plans that reach from floor to ceiling stay in place even in drafts from open windows.

SYSTEXX Active Magnetic M22 is non-conducting, so there is no risk of leakage current, despite the magnetically active backing. It does not affect wireless networks.
